On four of the hottest days in 2016, director and writer Richard Gorodecky took a film crew into some of the hardest estates in our capital and shot his story; Little Shit. A short film, about the harsh reality of living in the margins, Paul (Badger Skelton) plays a role that is both sensitive and fuelled with anger, Paul finds solace in nature, a natural sanctuary, hidden along the canal paths and brown sites of London.

If I learnt one thing over those four days, directing is a balance, in one hand you have a vision, and in the other you have the guiding arm to take your actors there, as tender as the film is, the relationship between actor and director was a touching side that I didn’t expect. Yesterday Little Shit won best short film at the London Short Film Festival 2018. After my recent trip to the enchanting River Blackwater in Co Cork, I  came across this film, written and directed by Richard Gorodecky  which struck a chord and reminded me of my similar experiences, especially of those in ‘our’ fishing hut. Fishing huts are always heavy with atmosphere, the river a constant sound that permeates through the walls leaving the angler with a itch that there is more fishing to be done. For issue 4 of Fallon’s Angler I have captured the fishing hut in our regular ‘Through the Lens’ series, but until its publication watch this short trailer and take in the atmosphere…

Dropped in tonight to see the magnificent Balcombe Lake, Spent many nights here as a teenager mainly catching bream.
Fallons Angler 21 has arrived, the creative guns are blasting for 22 and 23, for me though the cameras have laid relatively dormant over the last year, but slowly we are picking up pace, plenty of new films organised and ready to shoot including this one ‘Wildie’ which includes an author and conservationist, a farmer, a musician and a load of feral carp, wrapped in a stunning landscape. #wildcarp #feralcarp
