This has been bought to my attention, so I had to investigate, twins? Well not identical but very similar? Is there a link between Sylcast and Marco or is it plain plagiarism?
Looks as though there may well be a Kentish connection -or is that a connection of Kent? … Geoff Bucknall or a friend thereof might be able to illuminate – I think he was/founded/had summat to do with Sundridge.
Good hunting!
According to Kevin Clifford’s ‘A History Of Carp Fishing’ Sylcast was originally distributed by Marco. I don’t know whether there’s any connection between them and Sundridge (both were Kent-based) or if the continued use of the logo was simply to aid brand recognition.
Marco continued trading until the late Seventies, I’m told by an ex-employee. By then they were importing and distributing other’s products, so that might explain the Sundridge connection.
