On Wednesday my bag referred to  as my ‘chub’ bag was finally laid to rest for a few months. It offers everything that I like about my angling, it’s lightweight, compact,  keeps me mobile and it can only fit the bare essentials, my angling  is lean, my approach is simple. On my last trip  of the season I took to the River Wandle (for the very first time) with friends Garrett and Tony. The technique was thus;- rolling a worm down some fast runs with aid of two swan shot and a no 1 next to the hook to keep the bait down. The result? Well Garrett sums up the trip perfectly in his own words here.

Not strictly a tackle box but it is included under the ‘fisherman’s tackle kit’ banner and what a beauty! I don’t want to get weepy over a plastic container that is intended to store gentles or worms but this Marco version is the only one I have ever seen. I grew up using (as did millions of anglers from the 60’s and 70’s) the Efgeeco bright green and cream version but this one is a rare breed.

Just to top off the bait box rare breed piece today at the tuesday swim we also have the dark olive green Efgeeco bait box. Some rare nostalgia to place your gentles in…

Dropped in tonight to see the magnificent Balcombe Lake, Spent many nights here as a teenager mainly catching bream.
Fallons Angler 21 has arrived, the creative guns are blasting for 22 and 23, for me though the cameras have laid relatively dormant over the last year, but slowly we are picking up pace, plenty of new films organised and ready to shoot including this one ‘Wildie’ which includes an author and conservationist, a farmer, a musician and a load of feral carp, wrapped in a stunning landscape. #wildcarp #feralcarp

I’ve been aware of this kit bag all of my life, it went on family camping trips in the seventies but I only understood what it was about ten years ago. It’s a great thing #raf
