I just got off the phone to Bute Outdoor Angling and the word on the quayside is pike! So my bags are packed with the usual piking gear, a hat, a selection of reels and some rods all heading for Loch Ascog and possibly a boat on Loch Fad. The report is, slow and cold but some large ladies are showing themselves….

Suppose I could have said this first time..Its an Incredible part of the world. Ive been to a fair few of the western isles. Not fishing, but rather working with my trade union and the ferry crews.Some of whom told me about the fishing…salt and freshwater.Infact I was invited back… but that’s still to come( oneday)

Hi John, I can’t wait, I’ve not been out fishing this year and a 20lb Scottish pike would really complete my pike season… One can only dream but you never know? I still would like to get out on the canal mid week now the days are a little longer…I’ll be in touch soon, all the best.
